Games this weekend
Saturday 6th September 1st XI are home to Gedling. Sadly the 1st XI could only manage a loosing draw last weekend against Clifton. After winning the toss (finally!!), Clifton were put in to bat. I am reliably informed it was a batting wicket (I think someones decsribed it as flat as a pancake!) and it was expected to be a high scoring game. Anyway Clfton did knock it about a bit and scored 288. Pap manged to take 4 wickets, with TK taking out the 2 openers. In reply we lost Charlie quickly with only 9 runs on the board. However Kosie who was next in shared a partnership of 140 with Wako before he was caught on 81. Runs continued steadily but wickets fell and we ran out of overs, ending up on 230 Result - Clifton Village CC, Notts - 1st XI Winning Draw
2nd XI are away to Anston The 2nd team had a winning draw with Eckington last Saturday. Eckington who are currently top of the table won the toss and put Papp into bat. Big mistake as Steve Thomas let fly with the bat and went on to score 111. Somekh supported well and we were 138 before loosing the first wicket (Somekh for 45) When the 46 overs were up Pap had scored 250 for 4. In reply Eckington managed 182 for 8 in their allotted overs. Barfield was on fire and perhaps trying to show the 1st team what they were missing took 6 wickets. Result - Papplewick and Linby CC - 2nd XI Winning Draw
3rd XI are away to Basford... Last week saw the promotion of the 3rdXI!!
Sunday 7th September Sunday XI away against Radcliffe on Trent. The Sunday game against Gedling was rained off last Sunday.
Congats!!! the 3rd XI!
